 Summary and Suggestions

    1. Purpose of Practicum

    My objectives for joining this programme are:

1.  To improve my teaching skills in both classroom management and time management. By joining this programme, I believe that from all my teaching experiences at Anuban Lampang school, these skills will improve.  
2. To improve my English language skills, because by joining this programme I can improve my English language skills to be even better.
3. To learn a new culture and a different learning style between Indonesia and Thailand. 

    Joining this programme is one of my big dreams, and I became convinced that nothing is impossible in this world as long as we believe in ourselves and are willing to try. 

    2. Procedures of Practicum

    There are 4 stages that must be followed by SEA-Teacher participants

    The first procedure of my practicum at Anuban Lampang School was observation in the first week, this observation helped me to identify the characteristics of each subject in different ways and not only maths. Also, it helped me to get closer and understand the students better.

    The procedure in the second week is assistant teaching and making a teaching plan. Actually, I had already did assistant teaching in the first week on Thursdays and under the guidance of teacher Vin, I helped teacher Vin to handle situations in the classroom, such as helping students who were having difficulties, and so on. So, in the second week I continued my assistant teaching and also made a teaching plan under the guidance of my mentors, teacher Vin as the foreign teacher and teacher Meaw as the Thai teacher.

    The procedure in the third week of teaching at Anuban Lampang School was teaching practice, I taught 2 classes namely classes 4/1 and 4/2 Mini English Programme (MEP). I taught according to the teaching plan I had made and with the help of teacher Vin and the co-operation of the students, I was able to carry out my teaching practice. In this third week I also had a demonstration with my maths mentor from Lampang Rajabhat University, all the advice they gave was very useful for my future career and I am very happy that I have prepared well and tried to do my best.

    3. Outcomes of Practicum

    I would like to thank my mentor teacher at Anuban Lampang School, my mentor teacher at Lampang Rajabhat University, and everyone who helped me during my time in Lampang. Thanks to all of them I feel that my time teaching in Lampang has made me more independent, improved my classroom management skills, English, and got to know the differences between Indonesian and Thai learning styles, I am very happy because of all of that. In addition, my public speaking skills became better than ever and I promised myself to learn more.  

    4. The Challenges of Practicum

    The first big challenge for me during this programme was language. Not all students in the Mini English Programme class can speak English so it was difficult for them to understand what I was explaining. As I have explained before in the class management, sometimes I ask the students who are proficient in English to explain what I have explained to their friends who can't speak English, as well as me if they ask questions in Thai then I will ask the students who are proficient in English to explain what the student said. I know the time is very short but in less than 1 month I can keep them all in my heart, love and care for them all 💓💓💓

    The second big challenge for me was food. Ever since I came to Thailand the food I've been eating is chicken, chicken, and chicken not forgetting instant noodles 😅. That's because, the difficulty of halal food around the dormitory and the unfamiliar taste of food that is definitely different from my country Indonesia.

    5. Overall Impression

    From the bottom of my heart, what impressed me the most and liked the most here was the hospitality of the Thai people. They always smile kindly at me, even all the traders around the school (I miss them all), I am also very satisfied with this program because it helps one of my dreams.

    I would like to thank the SEAMEO SEA-Teacher program, because this program can help prospective teachers to see what the learning, classroom management and teaching skills of teachers in Southeast Asia are like. So that it can be a comparison material for teachers in teaching for a better educational future.

    6. Suggestions for Future Improvement

    I don't know what suggestion I can give because the whole program is really great. Maybe, I only have one wish, namely to be able to practice teaching longer to gain more experience, knowledge and friendship between friends from different countries.
