Day 3

 The Journey Begins

On this day is my first day at the school. In this school, I have a Filipino partner who is also my roommate, and her name is Tracy. Then, the name of the school is Anuban Lampang School, and the biggest elementary school in Lampang. Earlier, Ma'am Ying told us to wait for Ma'am Aoy to pick us up at the dormitory. So, Ma'am Aoy pick us up at 7.30am, and today, I was very exciting because today we met the director of Anuban Lampang School, and he gave us tracksuit Anuban Lampang.

Then, Mrs Aoy took me on a tour of the school, during the tour, Mrs Aoy explained some of the buildings such as the canteen, regular classes, kindergarten, and Mini English Program classes that are in the school.

Canteen

I had a special class in this school called Mini English Programme or MEP, most of the teachers are foreigners. There are teachers from the Philippines if I'm not mistaken there are about 16 people, and from other countries as well. The special thing that I get in the Mini English Program (MEP) class is that in the classroom, two teacher desks are located on the left and right of the classroom. One class here has two teachers, a foreign teacher who teaches English and a Thai teacher to manage the same class. This arrangement helps students to practice English every day and ensure their knowledge. Especially when learning English, if students still have difficulties or don't understand, the Thai teacher will explain back to the students until they understand.

Classroom Mini English Program

My class was placed in grades 4/1 and 4/2 with a foreign teacher, teacher Vin. Teacher Vin is from the Philippines and a teacher from Thailand, teacher Meaw. They are very friendly and enthusiastic teachers, they always explain clearly to me. Therefore, I believe I will have an interesting internship experience on this trip.
Then, I made my first observation in class 4/1, and observed my teacher, Vin. Previously, I was asked by teacher Vin to introduce myself in front of the class, and the lesson I would be teaching was a maths lesson. The atmosphere of the class was very lively and fun under the guidance of teacher Vin, students learnt through television and books. After teacher Vin explained, students were asked to work on the problems in the book. The lessons I learnt from teacher Vin were flexibility in handling situations to create serious learning but with a lively classroom atmosphere, how to get students interested in the lesson and how to apply it.
In the afternoon I helped teacher Vin prepare lunch for the students. It was different from when I was in primary school in Indonesia. I think Indonesia also needs to replicate this method for schools. That way, schools can control what students need to eat to avoid unhealthy food outside of school.
